Recent Project
A1 Door Company technicians Nick and Alex completed an overhead door replacement in Fredericksburg, VA, installing a Raynor SP24C insulated ribbed steel sectional door. The project included removing and hauling away the existing door.
The new door measures just over 10×10”, and combines insulated steel sections, two view port windows, and manual operation.
What Type of Overhead Door Was Installed?
This project features a Raynor SP24C sectional overhead door with 24-gauge ribbed insulated steel sections and a steel back cover. Its white, factory-applied baked-on enamel finish provides a clean appearance, while the ribbed profile gives the door a straightforward, functional design.
The insulated construction and perimeter weather stripping help limit heat transfer and drafts at the opening. Actual performance depends on the surrounding building, installation conditions, and how frequently the door is opened.

- Wind-load design: 20 pounds per square foot
- Track: 2-inch angle-mounted standard-lift track
- Sealing: Perimeter weather stripping
How Does The Door Operate and Lock?
The door uses manual push-up/pull-down operation, allowing it to be opened and closed without a powered opener. An inside slide bolt provides a locking point and can accept a separately supplied padlock.
This setup keeps operation simple for an opening where a motorized system is not something the customer wants.
Insulated View Ports and Weather Sealing
Two insulated view port windows in the third door section provide visibility through the door while maintaining its insulated window construction. Each window measures 24 inches wide by 6 inches tall.
Perimeter weather stripping helps close gaps around the edges when the door is shut. Together with the insulated sections, these features support a more protected opening than an unsealed door.
Did the Project Include Removing the Existing Door?
Yes. Removal and hauling away of the existing overhead door were included in the project. Nick and Alex handled the replacement installation, fitting the new sectional door with its specified standard-lift track and perimeter weather stripping.
The door also carries a 20 psf wind-load design specification. Wind-load suitability for another property should be assessed against that opening’s requirements rather than assumed from this project.
