  • How to Convert Your Garage Into a Mancave That Looks Sophisticated

Whether you've dreamed of a man cave for years or just realized that you want one, you've decided to turn the garage into this space. Still though, you don't want it to appear messy or chaotic; instead, you're hoping to have a more sophisticated vibe.

    Decide on a Theme

Throwing random chairs and assorted furniture into the space is likely to make it look messy. Before you begin to furnish the man cave, ask yourself what you want the theme to be. You may decide for a traditional option. For example, you may want to decorate the man cave with paraphernalia of your favorite sports team. Another option is to decorate with items from a game that you love to play. Of course, you don't need a traditional theme at all. Another way to tie the items in the room together is to have a color scheme or to opt for a vibe inspired by the beach or forest.

    Hire an Electrician

Trying to hang out with your friends by candlelight might make you feel as though you're in a real cave. Chances are that the garage already has some electricity wired it to, but you can call in an electrician to make it better. Having overhead lighting can make the space look brighter than just placing a few lamps in corners. If you have to use lamps, select ones that are bright enough to light up the space even when you're hanging out there at night.

    Work on Climate Control

No one is going to want to hang out in the man cave if it's sweltering hot in the summer or freezing cold in the winter. Finding ways to bring in heat or air condition can seriously increase the amount of time that you can use the man cave. However, you must ensure that the garage is properly ventilated for such devices, or you could end up creating a serious or deadly situation.  In the summer, you could install a garage door screen to improve airflow in the garage.  It would also be a good idea to invest in an insulated garage door to prevent the heat from escaping.

    Buy a Miniature Refrigerator

If every time you have friends over, you all have to keep going into the house to get snacks and cold drinks, then you may as well just hang out in the main part of the house. Depending upon the electrical situation in the garage and how much space you have, you may want to invest in a full refrigerator. Otherwise, a smaller model can do what you need it to.

    Make it Comfortable

While you want a sophisticated space, remember that the man cave is also where you'll relax with your buddies. If it's too stuffy, you could lose the meaning of a man cave. Make sure to purchase comfortable furniture. Have enough small tables so that guests can set down their snacks and drinks while you hang out and chat.

The decision to turn the garage into a man cave might be one that you've been waiting to make for a long time. Now that you have the opportunity to do so, work to make it as nice of a space as possible.
